Father & Sons Campout

The Bodily men headed out for one night of camping along Japan's coast.  It's not always easy to leave right after work, pitch a tent in the dark, for one night of camping.  However, the views and the company were enjoyed by all.
Well 3/4 had a good time...grumpy teenager on board!

Two boys happy to be there...One boy was just working so hard to not have a good time!

How to dry a tent when you live in an apartment...

It fills up the whole family room!  We really miss having a backyard.
Luckily we can walk through.

4th of July Camping

Over the 4th of July we were invited to go cabin camping with our dear friends the Palmer's to Sai Village on the Shimokita Peninsula.

View of the Sea of Japan from our cabin.

This random picture of Tommy Lee Jones on this vending machine cracked me up.

The owner's cat had kitten...the kids were trying all weekend to win them over.  It never happened.

Hotokegaura Coastline

The beaches in Japan are usually covered in trash...so sad.  The rumor is that is all from the tsunami of 2011, but not sure that's completely true.

Exploring the tide pools.

Snow Monkeys...so exciting!

Our last night we enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the Sea of Japan with the view of Hokkaido.

Cape Oma
It's the northernmost point on Honshu, the main island of Japan.

Finding a sea urchin.

They like squid here;)

Mount Osore
(Mount Fear)

It is a Buddhist place of worship in the crater of a dormant volcano. One of Japan's most sacred sites.  They say, the desolate scenery and strong smell of sulfur conjures images of hell.
