Elka
a Japanese German Schnauzer
It took all of two seconds to fall in love with this cute little puppy in the window, but a whole month to talk ourselves into buying her. She was being sold at the pet store in the mall that we live close to. Except for fish, I never thought we would get a pet from the store. After the research we did before moving to Japan we were planning on adopting a dog. Japanese people are very trendy and that includes dogs. There are a large number of dogs killed in shelters. However, living in such a rural part of Japan, finding dogs to adopt is challenging. When we saw her we just had to save her, but it took me 2 weeks to break the news to my veterinarian dad about her.
Born July 20, 2015
She is a black and sliver Miniature Schnauzer
She didn't know how to drink water from a bowl, play with her toys, and at first she was scared of cars. Riding in cars and walking next to them were especially frightening to her. Her whole life, up this point, was living in a glass display box in isolation.
